I started tracking my expenses this week for my new Money Diary series. Before I started working from home, I would get Starbucks daily on my commute to work so there were rarely any days I didn’t spend money. However, now that I work from home and make my own coffee (Nestlé instant coffee sachets), there have been more days with $0 spending than not.
I also finally received the property tax notices in the mail and was glad that the amounts I budgeted for them at the beginning of the year were accurate. The due dates for the payment have been postponed due to COVID so now we have more time to pay.
I also re-submitted my CPA PERT report and it is now pending mentor review. I spent hours on it this time so I am really hoping I will get some Level 1s. If not, I am actually not sure what else I could do at this point.
I was talking to one of my coworkers who is also doing CPA and she told me she started studying an hour before work after our chat a week ago. I was so happy she decided to do it because I knew it would relieve a lot of her stress. My study has gone well all week until the weekend (again, but I started to expect it). There are a few brand new (to me) cases I can try this week before I go back to review my notes one more time. If all goes as planned, I definitely will not have to study the day before the exam so I can just relax.
I only read one evening but I bought a book (Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis) even though it wasn’t on my list. This was the first book I bought since Christmas (2 books as a gift for Eric) and I actually had planned to buy The Ride of a Lifetime by Robert Iger instead. I never read more than one book at the same time so I will have to finish the one I started almost a month ago first.
My Saturday started off rather slow until I was looking around for a new WordPress template for jenthinks. I have always thought I will have to wait until I buy a WP template to have my site looking the way I wanted to but I was so wrong. I read the documentation that came with the free template I am now using and realized I can make my site to look exactly the way I want with it easily. I spent a couple of hours on it and was so happy with how it turned out.
I also reached out to a hotel over the weekend even though the possibility of a partnership is quite slim. Jenthinks isn’t close to qualifying for a partnership based on their established minimum requirements but I thought I would try anyway. The worst that can happen is getting a no. If I have learned anything in the past year of running Jenthinks (casually until this April), it is the necessity of trying your best when you reach out even though you will likely get a no as a chance to practice and network.

What Would I Do Different Next Week?
We were running low on groceries this week but we ate out 3 times so we made it. I have been dreading grocery shopping plus I didn’t get groceries on the weekend, I will probably give grocery delivery from Save On Foods a try ($5 – 10 delivery fees) this week.
I also have tomorrow off (Monday) but I have yet to decide what to do other than some studying. I will probably catch up on some posts on 3DIAC, a long-overdue travel post for jenthinks and Sweet Magnolias on Netflix.
