I am Jennifer, blogging from Vancouver, BC, Canada.

I grew up in Hong Kong and moved to Vancouver when I was 16 and stayed here ever since.

I am working in Finance as a Corporate Accountant and studying to become a CPA (Certified Professional Accountant). However, I have been interested in personal finance long before my finance career or CPA education started. As a kid, I had always been keen on learning about money but I only really took control of my own finance when my older sister, who I was living with, moved back to Hong Kong in 2010.

History of Jenthinks

2019

My blog began its journey with a vision of it being a personal blog where I will talk about a bit of everything (restaurants, products, travel etc).

A few months later, I decided to focus on travel-related content with hotel reviews and trip reports with a bit of everything else.

2020

The global pandemic hit and all travels had come to an abrupt stop for an undetermined amount of time. All of my remaining trips for the year were cancelled and no new trip is being planned for now.

With travel content hard to come by, I had to revisit what I want jenthinks to be. Over the last few months, I have found a true passion for creating content inspired by my own experiences (e.g., the Monday Hour One series) and passion (e.g., personal finance).

I hope to write about travel again soon one day but until then, stay safe.

2021

When I wrote my update last year, I didn’t think we were going to be in the midst of a pandemic still. It has truly taught me what mattered and what did not.

Last year was an important year for jenthinks – I found my niche in writing about CPA. My traffic has grown at a rate I could not have imagined at the start of 2020 and the majority of you came for my CPA content. It might sound cliche but I felt like I found my purpose and that is to help others by sharing my experience and thought process. 2021 is about growing this blog which will forever be my home base and my social media channels (find me on Instagram or Twitter) by continuing to create helpful content and stepping out of my comfort zone (I started bullet journaling!!).
