Our Mill Mini Console Table has arrived from CB2 a couple of days ago. It took us a couple of months to find a space-saving console table that met all of our criteria and I thought it will be fun to share our journey. I will share all the console tables we looked at and also a shopping list for Structube in order to complete the look!

Where Are We Putting the Console Table?

We moved into this condo last year and have been very slowly furnishing the place. Since we kept very few furniture from our previous home, we had to buy most things new. We picked up our furnishing pace when our travel plans were cancelled due to the pandemic and the newest area to tackle was the space pictured above.
Our entry door and the den are on the right of the picture. On the left, what you see is our guest bedroom + bathroom. The kitchen island is right in front of the blank wall.
What Were The Criteria for the Console Table?
The wall is about 80″ wide and the space between the island and the wall is about 40″. We were looking for a console table that meets all of the following criteria:
– not too deep (8″ to 12″) so it doesn’t take up too much-walking space
– not too wide as we were hoping to hang a mirror on top of it without covering the light switch
– not too expensive (our budget was under $500 including taxes + delivery)
– feels and looks durable (it is all too tempting to cheap out on it and regrets how cheap it looks)
– ships without a long wait time (so we had to look locally as the shipping time for cross-border has been delayed)

Why Did We Decide On The Mill Mini Console Table From CB2?
We went with the Mill Mini at the end because it is the perfect price ($199USD/$299 CAD), width (38″) and depth (8″). It was also in stock and the delivery took just over a week. We have not shopped at CB2 before but have been to its retail stores and were impressed with their quality. This table is made in India and very easy to clean. It arrived in perfect condition with no assembly required.
Next Step: My Structube Shopping List
The console table looks bare right now but our plan is to purchase the following from Structube (affordable and modern furniture) to go with it:
– a mirror of the same width (or slightly narrower) to hang above it

– few decorative items such as a candle or two (tea light candle holder shown in picture), a picture frame and maybe a marble tray

– a potted artificial plant on the floor right next to the console table

Conclusion
As I have mentioned in my Money Diary mid-month check-in, there is no budget left in July for home shopping (splurging on a pair of Jimmy Choo right after finding out didn’t help…). Luckily, my Structube shopping list totals just under $300 with taxes so I can easily allocate budget for it in August.
Overall, I am impressed with how the Mill Mini Console Table turned out. It feels and looks durable making it the perfect centrepiece for our small space.
